PayNoRake Review - 100% Rake Back, really?

PayNoRake.comPayNoRake is a newer poker site that offers players a chance earn back the rake the house takes on their table. Not all players will earn their entire rake back. Players start at 50 percent rakeback and can work their way up to the full 100 percent, but that takes quite a bit of time and a deep stack.

Software

PayNoRake is a Windows only site. The software requires at least Windows 98. And although the site doesn't list Vista as a supported operating system, the program worked with a hitch on my Vista computer. Other requirements include at least a 300MHz processor, 64MB of RAM and at least 25MB of space.

Aesthetics

As stated above, PayNoRake has pretty low pc requirements (most newer cell phones can best a 300MHz processor) and it's easy to see why. The software looks like it was designed four years ago, with almost laughable graphics, especially when compared to cutting edge sites like Poker Stars or Full Tilt. Now in saying that, you can't measure a site merely by its appearance. I mean players aren't flocking to poker sites for the graphics. When it comes down to it, it's all about the gaming experience and with PayNoRake, it's by no means, the best site out there for online poker, but it's also by no means even close to being the worst.

Like many poker sites, PayNoRake's Achilles' heel is its lobby. Here, it includes the bare minimum of features and I mean bare minimum. There's not even a filter feature to find certain tables, though it most cases a filter is not even necessary at PayNoRake because it's players pool is so small, when testing there were never more than 2,000 players online at any given time. Still, in the lobby, you can view tables by types of games, real or play money and heads-up tables.

I will give PayNoRake credit for one incredibly useful feature. When trying to join a table with a waiting list, a pop-up screen appears inviting you to a similar table, avoiding waits to get in on the action. It's a pretty nifty feature but doesn't make up for the lack of other features on the site.

When at a table, the site starts to redeem itself. Gameplay is pretty standard but the site offers a couple of notable features, including helpful pop-up windows that help new players set up options that are pretty standard among regular players, for example asking if you wanted to automatically post blinds. I couldn't tell you how many times I was dealt out of a game because I forgot to select the "post blinds automatically" button. While I was disappointed that there weren't any betting buttons (which requires you to either slide a scale to the amount you want to bet or enter in the amount), what I did find useful was just before it was your action, the program would highlight one of your options, usually the mostly likely option (like going all in when most of your chips were in the pot or calling a re-raise to your bet). This turned out to be a great feature when playing multiple tables, a feature the site supports, when you are pressed for time in making a decision.

Everything else at the table was standard and veteran poker players should have no problem getting acquainted with PayNoRake's layout.

Tournaments

If you are a tournament player, look elsewhere. The tourney pickings here are pretty slim. During most evenings, there were not more than 15 tournaments running. But of the running tournaments, PayNoRake offer Sit and Go, Pan, Multi-table and Multi-Stage

The site does offer a $10,000 guaranteed weekly tournament and some freerolls to qualify for live events, including the World Series of Poker, but outside of that, most tournament players are going to find PayNoRake's offerings unsatisfying.

Overall

Let's talk about the site's namesake feature, giving players the opportunity to earn back their rake. All players start out at 50 percent rakeback and players with a lot of time and money can work their way up to 100 percent. The great thing about NoPayRake is that the rakeback is paid out daily and players can check their rakeback amount by using the site's Rake-O-Meter.

This gives online players an option that is pretty unique to the online poker world. Hopefully more players discover PayNoRake because right now, there isn't enough traffic to really offer enough tables and tournaments, which would make it hard for some players to play enough to earn their rakeback. Hopefully, the site spruces up its site and starts offering more features to be more on par with other sites.
