Drawing odds

Drawing odds are the simply the odds of you hitting a specific hand. To be able to compute your odds, you must know your outs. An out is a non revealed card that would help you make your hand. Here's a common example of computing your drawing odd. Let say you're holding:

And the board shows:

You're currently drawing for a flush; you have four diamonds and are hoping for a fifth one on the river. You therefore have nine outs (there are nine diamonds left in the deck), and there are 46 non revealed cards (52 – 2 your hand - 4 on the board). Note that we consider every non revealed card, even the ones making the other players' hands. Therefore, the odd of making the flush on the river is about 19.6% (9/46). Knowing your drawing odds is important, more so when combined with the pot odds.
